Emerging Leaders Applications

Eligibility

Applicants for selection into the Emerging Leaders program must meet the following criteria:

  • Have 3 to 10 years of full-time work experience, with at least two years of experience working in the nonprofit or public sector
  • Be currently employed in the nonprofit or public sector
  • Currently have some level of project management responsibilities that includes the management of staff, interns, vendors, and/or volunteers
  • Work in either the Greater Washington DC region or in New York City region, where monthly sessions are held
  • Be available to attend each in-person session throughout the entirety of the program. Session dates are found below.

Application Requirements

Applicants to the Emerging Leaders program must complete the following:

  • Application fee of $30. The application fee is waived for alumni of the Princeton Project 55 Fellowship Program. Please email Soraia Francisco at sfrancisco@alumnicorps.org to inquire about a fee waiver.
  • A commitment to pay a participation fee once accepted. Fees are calculated on a sliding scale.
  • A range of short essay questions related to your experience and interest in the program (contained within the application form).
  • Written confirmation of program participation support from the Executive Director or other senior manager of your organization (signed Employer Letter of Support—this is a form letter provided by AlumniCorps within the application).
  • One letter of recommendation from the applicant’s professional life submitted through a form sent to the recommender from within the application. Applicants may submit a second recommendation letter; however, only one is required. (Link found within the application form)
  • An agreement to honor the time commitment, attendance expectations, and other program participation requirements (agreement is contained within the application form).

Your application will be read by AlumniCorps staff, alumni of the program, and the Emerging Leaders program facilitators. The most qualified candidates will be invited for a phone interview prior to final selection in May. The program begins in June. In the interest of developing a diverse cohort, we generally accept only one applicant from an organization into the program and never accept more than two applicants per organization into the program; we seek to manage expectations accordingly.

Emerging Leaders is made possible by a lead grant from American Express Philanthropy and generous individual donations.
