On Call for Democracy

ARC Innovator Title:

Organizer Training and Support Coordinator

Who is the nonprofit partner?

Existing formal groups doing health professional advocacy are reluctant to engage in electoral mobilization. On the other hand, typical electoral mobilization like phonebanking or canvassing is not tailored to the voice of the volunteer. Recognizing this gap, On Call for Democracy was founded in July 2018 and has had an energetic, rapid start with a large volunteer national team and many organizational partners.

What skills or interests do I need to do the project?

The Innovator must have prior experience with managing volunteer teams, with event/action planning, and/or with community organizing. It would be beneficial for the Innovator to have knowledge of or willingness to learn about community organizing, voter mobilization, and persuasion. They must be organized and willing to be responsive to organizers needs on an ongoing basis. Experience/interest in the health profession is beneficial, but it is not required.

What’s the project all about?

The Organizer Training and Support Coordinator will onboard and support 20-50 organizers while developing reusable materials for this work. This will activate and empower organizers to accomplish their mobilization goals.

What are the project objectives and deliverables?

  • Further develop our onboarding and training documentation
  • Determine individual organizer’s education and support needs and help to connect them with these resources
  • Provide ongoing support for 20-50 organizers

Who from the organization will provide me with support?

Andrew Goldstein, National Team Co-Organizer, will provide support on the project.

How long will the project take?

It is anticipated that the project will take 10-12 weeks.

Where will I complete the project?

The work can be done remotely.
